First of all, come as you are! We believe that God
is much more concerned about our attitude of heart
in worship than about what we wear outwardly. You
may at times see someone in a suit and tie at JCF
but they’re usually visitors! Seriously though, come
and dress to be comfortable.
Secondly, we like to say that JCF is “a Charismatic
Church in the Reformed Tradition”. The Charismatic
part means is that we are a church that believes in
the current day moving and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Our times of praise are a blending of traditional
hymns and contemporary worship songs. Some may raise
their hands as they worship and others may not.
Someone may share a Scripture they feel God is
laying on their heart or a word of encouragement.
Simply put we believe in having freedom of
expression in our worship and as long as a person is
not distracting others or drawing attention to
themselves we believe that God will be pleased.
The Reformed Tradition part means that we place a
great emphasis on the teaching of God’s Word and
that we embrace the 5 Solas of the Protestant
Reformation. We believe that salvation is…
-
by Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura)
-
by Christ Alone (Sola Christus)
-
by Grace Alone (Sola Gratia)
-
through Faith Alone (Sola Fide)
-
all to the Glory of God Alone! (Soli Deo Gloria)
We place a high
premium on God’s Word as His means of saving and sanctifying His people so
expect to hear in depth teaching and preaching. |
